Thank God we elected Barack Obama as President. His election signaled the end of Crony Capitalism and insider dealings. Under Obama there would be no contracts awarded without a stringent bidding process. But reality has set in, and needing to raise a billion dollars for a re-election campaign, good old Barry has found his Halliburton.

Enter Siga Technologies, and a major Democrat donor and Siga shareholder Ronald O. Perelman. Since last year the Obama administration has sought to purchase $433 million worth of an experimental smallpox drug that has a short self life and has not been tested in humans. Most Americans have been inoculated against smallpox, no know threat exists, and it is uncertain that the drug will work. Obama’s own Department of Health and Human Services was against the purchase or awarding a contract.

When Barack Obama heard about this resistance from his own HHS he intervened and replaced the government lead negotiator and blocked other firms from competing for the contract. Ethical and legal behavior be damned as nothing can stand in the way of this President and CASH. Despite the fact that the United States has enough smallpox vaccine on hand, Obama awarded Siga a no-bid contract for an unproven drug, for no apparent need at a bargain price of $255 per dose.

So the next time one of your progressive friends says Halliburton simply reply Siga.

The TSA has more than 65,000 employees, and continues to grow. It has more personnel than the HUD, Labor, Education, and State Departments combined. As with any government agency it is bloated with management. TSA has nearly 4,000 employees at its Washington Headquarters in addition to almost 10,000 administrators in the field. Despite this bureaucracy Homeland Security Inspector General Richard Skinner has stated that, “The ability of TSA screeners to stop prohibited items from being carried through the sterile areas of the airports fared no better than the performance of screeners prior to September 11, 2001.

Time for a reassessment of TSA. Time for TSA to become a lean and effective organization, not a typical government bureaucracy.

$7.31 per hour equals .12 cents per second. Now lets say that your pay becomes $1.00 per second, or $100.00 per second. How long before you make $1 Trillion. At one dollar per second it takes 31,688 THOUSAND years to reach $1 Trillion, which means that at $100 per second you would have to work 316 years to make a TRILLION dollars.

Remember these numbers are for just 1 Trillion in debt. Be sitting down, and have someone with knowledge of CPR close at hand, before you calculate your share of the $14 Trillion dollars of debt the country currently owes. And by the way it has gone up several hundred million in the time it took you to read this post.

My how times have changed. Where is all of the Democrat outrage now that of the 54,000 jobs created during April over half of the new hires “flip burgers” for McDonald’s. Hopefully, the Democrats have learned that demeaning any job taken, by someone willing to work, is WRONG.

Now I know that I will be considered a “hater” because Obama believes that the fact that GM and Chrysler are still alive (using the term lightly) should blunt any criticism. Need I remind you that Ford did not participate in the bailouts and remains the strongest of the three.

Remember the government gave GM and Chrysler $80 billion. Megan McArdle, of the Atlantic, makes an excellent point observing that the $14 billion loss of taxpayer dollars was several times larger than GM’s 2008 market cap. Not really a wise investment. She further makes a great point in stating that the money could have been used to give each of GM’s 75,000 workers a lump sum payment of $250,000 and shut the doors.

If you and I are faced with GM’s financial health we are forced into bankruptcy, not bailed out. A bankruptcy would have forced GM to make sound financial improvements or go out of business. It doesn’t take a genius to look at where GM is now versus pre bailout to see that another bailout is just around the corner.

I think it was Dick Gregory you famously opined “follow the money.” Seems like that is the case here.

I will never forget David Broder’s, the Washington Post writer’s, line that it was the job of Reagan’s staff to water “the desert between Ronald Reagan’s ears.” Hey David, who has that job in the Obama Administration? Regardless of who has the job, you can be sure, the way that the Obama Administration is spending money, they are using Evian. I do hope they are recycling the bottles.
